
Importance of maintaining high quality water
When viewing and admiring the fancy carps no matter
fed in the rearing ponds or in the gutters, the filtration
equipments are required. We often heard about the complaints
when feeding fancy carps in the past that the feeding
water usually becomes green in summer.
However, in recent years, the equipments such as Songsan
Marina filters and the filtration materials have solved
such problems, we can say, not a big word, that they
completely solve the problems mentioned above.

Thanks to them, each person can enjoy the pleasure of
feeding the fancy carps now.
So, why do we need the filter when feeding fancy carps?
The reason is that we will build up a comfortable environment
for the growth of fancy carps. We must filtrate the
sewage that has the excrements of fish and the remaining
fish food and maintain a clean and favorable water quality.
In the nature, the small organisms or microorganisms
will decompose such feculence, thus giving the fish
a comfortable water environment. However, such purifying
function can only realized again by the artificial method.
It is the filter that accomplishes this work. Meanwhile,
the water conditions in the ornamental ponds are stricter
in comparison with the natural marsh water.
On one hand, taking the ornamental purpose into account,
the transparency of water is required to achieve the
state of being capable of seeing a needle. The main
pond of our store (300t) has achieved the effect of
extremely high transparency due to its use of filter.
On the other hand, the feeding density is far higher
than that in the nature, thus easily worsening the water,
accordingly, we have to prevent the water from worsening.
Differences between purification and filtration
Have you ever pondered over that, what kind of water
is the good environment suitable for the growth of fancy
carps? People may say in general that it is the clear
and clean water. In fact, it is a misunderstanding to
regard the clear water (only seem as clean) as the environment
suitable for the growth of fancy carps. Some guests
may say, “the water in my home is the clean gushing
fountain, so there is no need for us to use filters”.
Outwardly, such water is indeed clean, but there may
be some substances such as ammonia harmful to fancy
carps in it, and the fancy carps cannot live there healthily.
So, what kind of water is suitable for the fancy carps
to live? Two engineering are required. The first one
is filtration (physical filtration). The simple explanation
of the principle for physical filtration is just like
the vacuum cleaner inhaling the excretions of fish,
remaining fish foods and the fallen leaves away, however,
through which only the visible garbage is removed, but
the ammonia substance existing in the water still remains.
The other one is purification, which is to clear the
water by means of removing the invisible germs and feculence.
Only through such engineering can realize the feeding
water really suitable for the fish to live.
Some customers may also say, “there is the lantern-like
cleaner in our pond, so there is no problem if we do
not install the filter.”
This is a kind of filtration in the pond, which only
gathers the feculences together rather than being the
real filtration, and may lead to worsening of the water.
It is, in common parlance, just like installing a water
closet in the pond, not mention being an environment
suitable for the growth of fancy carps. What the pond
needs is the filter, which has the functions of filtrating
and purifying both and is capable of providing the high-efficient
water.

What is the principle for
purification?
It is just like what mentioned above, we know that to
make good water is not merely to clear the water.
The factors as the feculences in the pond involve: excrements
of carps, remaining fish food, cortex secretion of carps,
fallen leaves, rainwater (acid rain), algae, bodies
of the dead planktons, plus the compounds such as carbon
dioxide, alkaline air, ammonia, nitrous acid, nitric
acid and other substances such as phosphorus, iron,
manganese and so on harmful to the carps, all of which
are mixed in the pond.
To remove the aforementioned substances and manufacture
the water suitable for the carps to live requires the
animal planktons and aerobic bacteria, which will decompose
the organics such as excrements and urine by oxygen.
The key for making water via purification is to increase
the animal planktons and aerobic bacteria into the water,
which will decompose the feculence by oxygen; therefore,
air is required to be fed to the sufficient extent by
air pump. This is why the air pump is installed in the
purification tank of wash closet.
Furthermore, if water quality shows the neutral PH value
(acid and alkaline value), then the activation of purification
capability achieves the utmost degree, accordingly,
pay attention to using shucks and Shuihuiyuan (water
quality adjustment mineral feeding agent) to adjust
the PH value of water.
In case of sound water quality, the carps will not fall
ill so easily and will grow healthily.
Whereas, if the content of ammonia, nitrous acid and
nitric acid increases, the PH value will be reduced
and the aerobic bacteria are unable to live there, thus
anaerobic bacteria come into being.
Anaerobic bacteria is different from the aerobic bacteria,
the former does not use oxygen during the process of
decomposition of the organic matters, but will produce
firedamp and sulfureted hydrogen, if so, the water will
have the unpleasant smell just like the water in the
sewers, where the fish are unable to live and easily
to infect the other diseases and die finally.
Furthermore, when the temperature rises, the cyanophyta
may grow in the ponds and carps may have the phenomenon
of floating head, which will lead to absence of oxygen.
